Taekwondo Basics Class 6: Learn Stances, Blocks, Punches & Master Roundhouse Kick (Dollyo Chagi)

This class provides a complete guide to essential Taekwondo techniques, covering fundamental stances, Low and High blocks, and Straight Punches with Footwork. It also focuses on perfecting the Dollyo Chagi (Roundhouse Kick) through progressive drills. The session includes a structured warm-up, conditioning exercises, and a cool-down routine to enhance flexibility and strength. Perfect for beginners looking to build a solid foundation in Taekwondo!

Warmup:

  1. Running
  2. Neck Rotations
  3. Trunk Twists
  4. Hip Twists
  5. Knee Circles
  6. Socket Stretch
  7. Sitting Hamstring Stretch
  8. Horse Stretch
  9. Full Split Side
  10. Full Split Front
  11. Hip Circles
  12. Hip Twists

Stances:

  1. Chiriyat
  2. Junbi
  3. Naranhi Seogi
  4. Kyorugi Junbi
  5. Balchagi Junbi
  6. Ap Seogi
  7. Ap Kubi / Gubi
  8. Juchum Seogi

Footwork:

  1. Switch Feet (Phalmago) 20x each

Punches:

  1. Jab 10x both hands
  2. Cross 10x both hands
  3. Jab with footwork (moving forward) 20x each side
  4. Jab + Cross 20x with footwork (moving forward / stepping forward)
  5. Jab + Cross 20x with footwork (moving backward / stepping backward)
  6. Jab + Cross 20x with footwork (Side by Side)

Kicks / Chagi:

  1. Ap Chagi / Front Snap Kick: Stand in Balchagi Junbi and Perform front kick 20x each

Dollyo Chagi:

  1. Half Roundhouse kick 10x in 1 step
  2. Half Roundhouse kick 10x in 4 steps
  3. Roundhouse Kick Chamber with stepping forward practice

Blocks:

  1. Low Block (Arae Makki)
  2. High Block (Eolgul Makki)

Conditioning:

  1. Front Kick Ap Chagi Extended Circles 5x clockwise and 5x anti clockwise 3sets

Cool Down:

  1. Standing Quad Stretch
  2. Socket Stretch
  3. Power Horse Stance Stretch
  4. Side Split with 10x pushups ==> Sit down slowly in side split pose
  5. Butterfly Stretch
